Father’s Commentary: Treasures in heaven.

In the book of Matthew, Matthew writes about why we should keep our treasures in heaven and “store up your treasures in heaven” rather than on Earth.  In short, the verse states that we should place all of our treasures in heaven where they will not rust and wither away.

Matthew 19 through 21 reads.  19) Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20) But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21) For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

What we need to know about your treasures in heaven.

The verse is really trying to teach us that we need to give God our money, our talents, and our time here while we are on Earth and He will keep our treasures in heaven.  Time, talent, & money are things we treasure on this Earth are treasures we can use for God here or use for ourselves here.

By giving God the things we treasure here on earth he will multiply those gifts with rewards in heaven. 

It also means if we pay too much attention to earning money and trying to get a higher salary from our job, we are not spending enough time studying the Bible learning what God wants us to do on this earth.

The battle of time, money, & talent.

It is a battle of time, money, and treasure.  God wants us to have balance and keep him first in our hearts.

I really does not matter if we get an extra hour over time because it takes an hour away from God, our family time, or time we spend in worship or study with God.

By spending too much time trying to earn money and trying to build up treasures and money here on earth, we are neglecting what we really need to be spending time on.

Which is building up treasures for heaven. In order to build up treasures for heaven we spend our life working and serving God. He wants us to lose our life (bad habits and an Earthly focus) here on this Earth by giving up the things which distract our hearts.

Don’t overlook your earthly blessings.

Like money and seeking riches by spending more time than we should in overtime and neglecting our family. He wants us to lose the “Earthly Attitude.” He will then give back to us, as he promises in Matthew 6:4 So that your giving may be in secret.  Your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

By gaining a new life, new riches, new rewards, and heaven.  It is a hard concept for people to really see because it is so abstract and it is hard to understand and goes against our human desires for wealth and more.

But remember wherever your time, talent, and money is your heart will be also be there.
